Castlebrom Roots
I. Introduction
The web pages that follow represent the work done to date by me with respect to the ancestry and genealogy of my two families, i. e. the HUBBLE family of my Mother, and the POULTER family of my Father. Although they do not show specific genealogical connections, there are numerous historical and genealogical facts, memos and photographs, found mainly through links to other documents.
In particular, the viewer will find numerous references to a published book by me on “The Hubbles Of The United Kingdom & Other Commonwealth Countries.” Its short title is “A Sojourn,” and that is how it will be referenced to hereafter. The complete book is now available directly from the printer and can be obtained by going to his web site, www.Lulu.com, and inserting the words "A Sojourn" in to the (book) search block. I have, however, linked to the Index of the book so that you can determine whether or not a particular surname, or location, is there. To see if your name is mentioned, go to “A Sojourn Index.”
Since I am a first generation U. S. Citizen and all of my ancestors, on both sides of the family, came from England, virtually all of my research was done in the United Kingdom. As will be seen, however, my Hubble research has lead me to a number of the Commonwealth countries, giving rise to the contents of “A Sojourn.” As a result, the viewer will find very few references to anyone in the United States, although recent research has lead to some distant Poulter and Hubble cousins here.
NEW!! I have now completed my second family history book, "PoulterDale: The Poulters of Yorkshire and Some other Places." I will, hereafter, refer to it as "PoulterDale" and the outline found on the Contents page will, for the most part, summarize the contents found in the book. It is now available from the same printer, www.Lulu.com, and I announced its publication in the Summer (2009). PoulterDale is almost 500 pages including 57 illustrations and numerous appendices showing the many Poulter families and their links. If you have a Poulter connection, there is the likelihood that your family will be mentioned in it. I have added a temporary link to the Index so that the search is made even easier.
Since the first version of this site over ten years ago, I have collected a great amount of data relating to both of my families but, especially, the Hubble side. I have several databases, the main Hubble one now containing over 10,000 names. Even the main Poulter database is now over 7600 names and both are being updated regularly. If you think that we may have some mutual connections to either family don’t hesitate to contact me. Even though I have summarized my own findings in A Sojourn and PoulterDale, I continue to add more data and help other researchers complete their information. If you do not find your family mentioned contact me as I may have, inadvertantly, omitted it! There are many names in the Appendices that do not show up in the Index.
Enjoy these pages and let me know if you have additions, corrections or just comments. For all purposes I can be reached at: Castlebrom@Aol.com. To see the contents of Castlebrom Roots, go to the Contents.
Oh yes, if you really want to know, Castle Brom(wich) is a real place, and the location of my early school years. You can find it at coordinate 1590 on the Ordnance Survey Map, Landranger Series # 139.
